赦 - Tensha-en Garden
Guided to a pond shaped like the character for 'heart'――.
A tranquil garden loved by the feudal lord.
Tensha-en
In the centre of the garden, designated as a national scenic spot, lies a pond. Its shape resembles the Kanji character for 'heart,' and it is here that the journey through this garden should lead you—to the heart. This Chisen Kaiyu-style garden (a strolling garden), with its winding pathways, was built by the lord of the region, Munetada Date, in 1866 as his retreat. In the 'Sen-en-kan' tearoom, he would partake in tea ceremonies, while in the 'Harusame-tei' calligraphy room, he honed his calligraphy skills. From here, he would watch the changing seasons, along with the ever-evolving nature around him.
